Location
Pacific Quay & SECC, Pacific Quay
Description
The £150 million Pacific Quay development covers 30 acres on the site of the former Glasgow garden festival.
It will include a 46,500 sq m mixed use development, incorporating offices, residential, hotel, leisure and other supporting businesses.
The site is currently home to the Scottish criminal records office, XFM Scotland, Buro Happold and Scottish Media Group (SMG). The BBC moved into their new headquarter building on the site in 2007.
The Clyde Arc (also known as the Finnieston Bridge or the 'squinty' bridge), which opened in September 2006, has greatly improved transport links to and through the development to Govan and Kinning Park.
There is currently an opportunity to develop the Canting Basin. The plan is for the basin to become a focal point for water based activities (and associated commercial activities such as sailing equipment and clothes retailers, cafes, restaurants etc.), in the heart of the Pacific Quay development.
