This project will develop students' k/u of 3D design processes by
using the Clyde waterfront as a starting point to create an
original facility/building that they would like to see put in place
on the Clyde e.g. waterside cafés, museums, sports facilities,
parks etc. They will present to a team: Clyde developer,
local architect, local authority personnel and an exhibition at
parents' evening. Learners will work in teams to create one
facility each; all of the facilities will then come together to
create the complete Clyde waterfront development model. Learners
will apply this knowledge in a real life context by considering the
impact of development plans on the local community.
Broad Outcomes of learning
• Subject knowledge of the design process gained and enhanced e.g.
working to the constraints of the design brief (responsibility to
meeting needs of others), construction skills
• Develop enterprise and employability skills: application of
knowledge in a real situation by being able to follow a brief,
working in collaboration with others and by discussing the pros
& cons of final outcome with whole class and
experts
• Learners have developed enterprising skills identified as 4
capacities of CfE
Relevance to curriculum
• Supports CfE Art & Design studies: students will work with
the visual elements: line, texture, form and colour
• Relevance of how community facilities are relevant to work and
life and how this subject knowledge is put into practice in a real
situation
