A Travelodge now complements other leisure facilities beside the Xscape leisure complex in Renfrew.
The new hotel is a Travelodge, the UK's fastest-growing hotel business which first opened in Britain in 1985. The Travelodge creates 25 new jobs and is located adjacent to the £71m Xscape development and the new £7m Riverside Braehead business park. The Travelodge also serves Glasgow International Airport, and has direct access on to the M8.
Travelodge Braehead has 99 rooms, a bar café and just over 100 car parking spaces. Room rates start from £26 per night. This is the 4th Travelodge in Glasgow, the 23rd Travelodge in Scotland and takes the company's employment in Scotland to 375.
The £90 million indoor Xscape centre features a snowslope with real snow. It currently attracts more than three million visitors a year from all over Scotland, the north of England and Northern Ireland.
The new hotel will also appeal to visitors attending events at Braehead Arena and tourists looking for a base with good motorway links.
Current status:
Planning permission received March 07. Build started in April 2007 and the hotel opened to the public in September 2008.
