The new Children's Hospital will provide state-of-the-art medical care to children in a safe, happy, child-friendly environment.  The new hospital will be a worthy successor to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill and will be linked to Maternity Services and the Adult Hospital in order to provide the best possible care for new babies and their mothers too.

The Scottish Government approved the Outline Business Case for the New South Glasgow Hospitals in April 2008. The project will deliver a New Children's Hospital, a new Acute Adult Hospital and new Laboratory facilities on the Southern General site. In November 2009 the contract for this project was awarded to Brookfield Europe. Build started early in 2011.
