Greater Govan & Glasgow Harbour, Govan
This is a highly visible and prominent development forming
a 'gateway' to Govan Town Centre along the Govan Road from Glasgow
City Centre. The development will be designed to be
sympathetic to the surrounding historic buildings but retain a
striking contemporary feel consistent to its highly public location
on the main road.
The development consists of a key, freestanding five storey
block set in a new, small, public square with possible commercial
space at ground level and a mix of flats and houses with private
gardens to the remaining areas. The new accommodation
provides 79 units and with both private sale (36 units) and social
rented accommodation (36 units). It is the intention this mixed
tenure project contributes to the vibrancy, regeneration and
sustainability of the Govan area.
The project is now complete.
Started on site July 2009 and completed May 2011.
Between 2003 and 2014 Clyde Waterfront was a strategic
partnership comprising the Scottish Government, Scottish
Enterprise, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire
Councils. Its purpose was to promote the economic, social and
environmental regeneration of 13 miles of the River Clyde from
Glasgow city centre to Dumbarton.
