Description:
The redevelopment of the St Enoch Centre has created
a world-class retail and leisure destination in a key
location at the heart of Glasgow city centre.
In the first phase of redevelopment
250,000 ft2 of retail and leisure space has been
added, taking the facility to more than 1 million ft2 in
total.
Up to 700 new retail jobs will be created as a result of
the St Enoch's Working Initiative.
An iconic new entrance has been created on the site of the old
Clydesdale Bank building. New facades and store fronts have been
added, shopper circulation improved and an ambitious lighting
programme has added to the centre's visual appeal.
World-famous toy store Hamleys has opened of its first UK store
outside London at St. Enoch and other top brands such as H&M,
Henleys, Costa Coffee, Folli Follie and Pulp have also be
opened major new stores. In addition, existing anchor retailers
Boots, Debenhams and Dorothy Perkins have invested heavily to
enhance their stores within the Centre.
The new food court, providing 720 seats, has wi-fi internet, a
children's soft play area and a pay-as-you-go internet kiosk.
Planning permission was granted in December 2006. Construction
began Spring 2007. initial stage of phase 1 completed November
2009. Final stage 1 completed May 2010.
