Cooper Cromar has submitted a planning application for the third phase of Sanctuary Housing Association's regeneration project in Anderston.
The result of a design competition, the residential development
forms a part of a larger mastersplan to regeneration the area which
is currently dominated by high rise flats anf poor quality,
disconnected public realm.
Currently preparations are being made to demolish the central
tower block.
The proposed design consists of 109 new residential units
comprising apartments and maisonettes arranged in four 5-6 storey
blocks. The building look to make dynamic and lasting contribution
to te area as a whole through their careful placement and
considered palette of materials which complement both the existing
tenements and earlier phases of the masterplan.
The new public realm works and pedestrian links seek to fully
inegrat this phase into the overall masterplan and into the wider
area in general as an antidote to the inhospitable 1960s inspired
decks and walkways through Anderston.
