Hydro comes to life

25 Feb 2013

Scotland's new purpose built arena is attracting an exciting line up of events after it opens in September 2013.

Acts lined up for the new waterfront arena, part of the SECC complex include Bruno Mars, Fleetwood Mac, Boyzone, JLS and Miranda Hart.

The Hydro has been designed to be a flexible space, accommodating a wide range of concerts, conferences and events; the seats and staging can be reconfigured to provide a capacity of 12,000 (everyone seated) or up to 13,000 (standing in performance bowl).

The Hydro will create a new benchmark for Scotland in what both visitor and performer can and should expect from an event experience in the UK.

The arena has been designed to create perfect sight-lines from every angle, crystal clear acoustics and fixed comfortable seating.

Currently the building is progressing towards completion, with the opening scheduled for September. Currently, the seating is being put in place and the roof covering is due for completion in April.

In 2014, the arena will become an important venue for the Commonwealth Games.
