Boost for city centre shopping

25 Jan 2013

Plans for a £300 million extension to Buchanan Galleries have taken a major step forward.

The project will create 65,000sq m of additional shopping, restaurant and leisure space, including more than 15 new restaurants and a multiplex cinema.

The existing shopping centre will undergo an extensive refurbishment providing visitors with a first-class destination both day and night.

The project will link into Queen Street Station and there will be a new 1700 space multi-storey car park.

Owners Buchanan Partnership also plan new frontages for the shops in Buchanan Street, Cathedral Street and Killermont Street.

They say that will improve the experience for visitors and support the regeneration of the Buchanan Quarter to create a more vibrant city centre.

Buchanan Partnership is a joint venture between Land Securities and Hender-son Global Investors.
