A £20.7 million administrative complex has been approved for Glasgow's new superhospital.
Staff including doctors, nurses and researchers will have access
to state-of-the-art facilities for admin work, including patient
record keeping at the New South Glasgow Hospitals Campus. More than
10,000 staff will be based at the new £841.7m hospital campus, when
it becomes operational in 2015.
A total of 1200 work stations will be created to accommodate
staff transferring to the old Southern and General Site in Govan
from the Western Infirmary, Yorkhill Hospital and the Victoria
Infirmary.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde say the new 'eco friendly' offices
will provide consultants, other clinical and administration staff
with modern admin facilities available.
The design, by BMJ architects, maximises natural light, and
meeting 'pods' - private areas for staff to meet with relatives and
colleagues, and 'break out' relaxation areas.
NHSGGC said the cost of the office development was contained in
the overall budget of the project.
Construction work will get underway in February with the
development expected to open in April 2015 to support staff
transferring to the hospital campus.
The development will be sited on yet to be cleared land next to
the Teaching and Learning block.
