Get Up and Glasgow

Through an understanding of local health related issues, learners will develop a strategy to promote positive health of young people in their area by working in teams focusing on various aspects of health and creating a poster and presentations campaign.  Learners will have opportunities to interact with members of the local community and to invite local health organisations who provide facilities, to come into the school.

Broad Outcomes of learning
• Knowledge and understanding of 'health' topic gained and enhanced
• Knowledge & understanding of health issues faced by their peers/parents and local community groups enhanced application of knowledge in a real situation by working as researchers/campaigners promoting current health issues and meeting the needs of their audience
• Functional Writing skills enhanced through focus on language and structures appropriate to genre and audience - persuasive writing - poster
• Pupils take responsibility for their learning through cooperative decision making in teams planning and executing their Health & Wellbeing campaign, appropriate to audience
• Confidence gained by working independently researching health issues, designing own posters
• learners make effective contribution through roles and responsibilities within groups
