Description
Templeton on the Green is a unique mixed use 'lifestyle village' overlooking the historic Glasgow Green.
Templeton, originally a carpet factory until 1980, is one of Glasgow’s best landmarks. It comprises a collection of Grade A listed buildings, constructed through the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and arranged around a courtyard. The principal decorative building by Sir William Lieper is believed to have been based on the design of the Doges Palace in Venice and is regarded by many as one of the finest decorative brick buildings in the world.
The buildings are being converted within an approved masterplan to provide offices, workshops, creative studios and new and converted flats. The buildings overlooking the Green are to be developed as spacious apartments. The first 34 converted flats have been sold and are almost complete.
Cost
The total value of the development is approximately £20 million.
Current status
Approximately 40% of the space is currently being refurbished and 60% is occupied.
Timescale
The overall completion of the entire complex is expected by July 2008.
