  • Clyde Waterfront: a river reborn

Key locations for action

Billions of pounds of public sector investment have been earmarked for the Clyde's regeneration over the 15 years of the Clyde Waterfront project. Clyde Waterfront's plan focuses on six key areas along the river corridor, from Glasgow Green to the Erskine Bridge:

Glasgow City Centre - new developments on the waterfront will bring new life to the Broomielaw and Tradeston, to the west of the city centre.

Pacific Quay & SECC  -  these areas will be enhanced with better transport links. The Quay will become a new digital media campus – including the BBC’s new Scottish HQ. Meanwhile, SECC site is earmarked for expansion; plans are in place to build a new 12,500 seater arena as part of the growing complex.

Greater Govan & Glasgow Harbour - a £1.2 billion investment programme will transform 130 acres of former dockland into a world-class waterfront location.

Renfrew Riverside & Scotstoun - proposals aim to improve access to the area around the Braehead Shopping Complex. New retail, leisure and residential developments are planned.

Clydebank - there are proposals to improve the town centre’s links to the riverfront, and attract new businesses to the area. New housing is also planned.

Erskine & Old Kilpatrick - each community’s links with the River Clyde will be improved. This pleasant riverfront district has considerable potential for future development.

Clyde Waterfront is a strategic partnership of the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Council, Renfrewshire Council and West Dunbartonshire Council.
