Renfrew town centre regeneration
Location
Renfrew Riverside & Scotstoun, Renfrew
Address
Hairst Street/High Street, Renfrew
Description
These works will result in the physical integration of Renfrew town centre and the wider Renfrew riverside area. It will create links to training and employment in the district and improve business opportunities for the retail and commercial sectors of the town.
Environmentally the town will benefit from a physically attractive and accessible town centre, with less congestion and pollution. It will be easier to access the Clyde waterfront and the new public park, and the town centre will be re-established and maintained as the natural business services and retail location to serve the newly expanded town and Renfrew riverside areas.
The purpose of the first phase is to ally the physical improvement and economic regeneration of Renfrew town centre to the greater Renfrew Riverside initiative. New traffic calming schemes are proposed, along with improved lighting, wider footways and new on-street parking. Station Road will be extended from the town centre to the new widened Kings Inch Road, with extensive environmental improvements introduced locally.
