Description:
Plans to create a stylish new £10m restaurant quarter on the waterfront within Glasgow city centre have been approved by Glasgow City Council.
The Broomielaw Quay project will be a joint venture between Glasgow City Council and Capella Developments, part of Glasgow-based Capella Group.
Once completed, the 32,000 sq ft pavilion-style development will house a series of bars, restaurants and cafes on the banks of the River Clyde at the Broomielaw, adjacent to the city's International Financial Services District.
The scheme will feature high quality public realm along the waterfront to create a continental-style experience on the north bank of the River Clyde.
The new leisure quarter is expected to create up to 150 jobs and compliments the longer term development of the area, including the creation of the Fastlink bus service between the city centre, the SECC and the new Riverside Transport Museum at Glasgow Harbour.
