Planning permission has been granted for a major superstore in the Gorbals, creating over 400 new jobs.
Cathcart Developments has been working with Tesco Stores Ltd on
the 24 acre masterplan which will include office, residential
and retail space. The scheme incorporates an 80,000 sq ft Tesco
store, 105,000 sq ft of office space and 200 homes.
The Herald reported that the plans had been approved, along with
another supermarket development, just across the M74.
The project is set to complete the regeneration of the Gorbals.
More than 400 new jobs will be created in the supermarket as well
as new training opportunities. The development is expected to
provide an economic boost to the area, reduce the need to travel to
shop and provide a mix of uses delivering an attractive location to
live, work and shop.
