Whilst the sparkle of Christmas can sometimes be fleeting, we’re ending 2011 with a news round up of real progress this year which is making a lasting difference to Clyde Waterfront.
All along Clyde Waterfront's 13 miles we have seen over £1
billion of major projects progress or complete this year, despite
the economic challenges. We're featuring some of these top news
stories from 2011 in geographical order, so you can follow the
regeneration of the Clyde from Glasgow city centre downriver, via
Renfrew, all the way to Dumbarton.
Glasgow City Centre
The "missing link" 5 miles of M74 extension opened
in June, ahead of schedule and under budget, cutting journey times
across Glasgow and connecting better with Clyde Gateway.
The IFSD
celebrated its 10th anniversary, having created 15,500 new jobs
since 2001 and with the announcement that some of its longstanding
Financial Services companies will expand in 2012.
Pacific Quay and SECC
June saw the launch of Creative Clyde, a collaborative project
to further enhance this part of the river as a flourishing, vibrant
centre for media, technology and creative businesses. Find

Construction of the new 12,000 seat, £120m Scottish Hydro Arena is
well underway and on schedule to host major events like the MOBOs
and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Read more about

Greater Govan and Glasgow Harbour
Perhaps our greatest success story is the £74m Riverside Museum,
designed by Zaha Hadid, which has attracted over 1 million visitors
(by all modes of transport) since opening in June.
The Laboratory building reached fitting out stage - part of The
South Glasgow Hospital, Scotland's largest ever NHS project (£842m)
which is creating many local construction jobs. Read more about the

Renfew Riverside and Scotsoun
In June, global human resources company Ceridian opened its
new £16m UK base at Titanium Business Park at Braehead, next to
the M8 and Glasgow Airport.
Announcements in March, that Doosan are developing an R&D
centre in Renfrew and Steel Engineering are creating a new £3m
industrial port by the White Cart river, will boost jobs. Read more

Clydebank and Erskine
A new education and
visitor centre opened in April, providing the Titan Crane at
Clydebank with a great new resource.
The £33m Park Mains
High School is progressing and due to complete for the 2012/13
year.
Old Kilpatrick to Dumbarton
Taylor Wimpey has now joined Persimmon Homes and Walker Group at
Lomondgate by Dumbarton, with the first homes going on sale in
July. Over 300 are to be built. Read more about Taylor

Also at Lomondgate, Aggreko's new £20m building is nearing
completion. Once this new manufacturing facility
has been fitted out, it is expected to create around 100 new
jobs.
