A successful two day event at Glasgow's Crowne Plaza Hotel, in the heart of Clyde Waterfront, brought together over 150 delegates from across the world.
Waterfront
Expo 2011 Scotland was an invaluable opportunity to learn how
the waterfront regeneration aspirations of seven major cities have
been turned into reality, forming the basis of attracting new
investment and helping continue the momentum of future urban
development.
This year's Expo was breaking new ground for this type of event.
Rather than the wishful thinking of masterplans, the focus of
WaterfrontExpo 2011 was hard on the actual experience and progress
of at least seven major cities in turning their waterfront
regeneration plans into reality, and the new investment
opportunities created.
Clyde Waterfront in the limelight
With the event based in Glasgow, the regeneration of the Clyde
was in the limelight, alongside projects in Dundee and
Edinburgh.
A highlight of the first day was a trip out on the river, hosted
by Clyde Waterfront, introducing delegates to the enormous progress
that has been made, and continues to be made, along the Clyde.
The official civic reception was held in the new Riverside
Museum, designed by world famous architect Zaha Hadid and located
beside the River Clyde. The event was hosted by Bailie James
Scanlon, Councillor for Glasgow Southside Central.
The museum, which houses Glasgow's transport collection,
created a fabulous backdrop for the occasion.
