A £1m programme of improvements in passenger facilities at 19 railway stations in Glasgow and Lanarkshire has been announced, with the work to be completed in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The stations in line to be upgraded are close to key
Commonwealth Games venues or at 'feeder' stations likely to be busy
during the event.
Work on the ScotRail programme should begin later this year.
The upgrades will include new customer information screens,
waiting shelters, seating and lighting.
The Glasgow stations to benefiting from the investment include
Exhibition and Partick, which are both in the Clyde Waterfront
area.
The news follows a recent announcement of £246m funding from the
Scottish Government to upgrade the Glasgow Subway.
