Glasgow's new Riverside Museum is in the running to be named the UK’s Museum of the Year.
The £100,000 Art Fund Prize is the biggest prize for arts and
cultural organisations in the country.
Riverside is up against nine other museums for the prestigious
award, with the winner due to be announced in June.
The only other Scottish museums in the running are the National
Museum of Scotland and the National Galleries of Scotland, both in
Edinburgh.
Glasgow council leader Gordon Matheson said: "The Riverside Museum
cements the city's reputation as Scotland's cultural powerhouse.
The iconic building celebrates the transport, industrial and
engineering heritage that helped to build Glasgow and the world. We
are rightly proud that the museum has been short-listed for such a
prestigious prize."
