Renfrew Town Hall is to reopen following a £5.2 million revamp.... and a day of celebrations on 28 January 2012 will mark the occasion.
A parade, fireworks display and musical performances will mark
the reopening of the historic town hall and a new Renfrew Community
Museum.
The event will take place from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Saturday,
January 28. The action starts with a parade from Robertson Park to
the High Street, involving local schools and musicians. The Renfrew
Burgh Band will perform at 2.45pm and at 3pm the Clyde 1 Roadshow
takes over with more live music.
The official opening will take place at 4.30pm before a spectacular
fireworks display.
Quoted in the Evening Times, Councillor Bill Perrie, convener of
Renfrew and Gallowhill Local Area Committee, said: "Renfrew Town
hall has always been at the heart of the community so it's only
right that the community is fully involved in the celebrations to
mark its reopening."
The modernisation of the Town Hall was led by Renfrewshire
Council, with support from Renfrew Common Good Fund, Historic
Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
