went on air in September 2002 it was our intention to reflect
contemporary Scotland through a long-running drama and this
continues to be our aim today.
"River City and the site in Dumbarton has also been a huge asset
to the creative industry in Scotland allowing many people both in
front and behind the scenes to develop and hone their art on it and
providing an opportunity for them to do so right on their doorstep.
We have seen the likes of Garrow's Law, Hope Springs and The Deep
all being filmed in Dumbarton - and with Waterloo Road now in
Greenock, the creative industry in Scotland has been given an
important boost from BBC Scotland and our partners."
