Scottish and Southern Energy has consolidated its push into the central belt by snapping up a prime office location in the centre of Glasgow for more than £20 million.
The Perth-based electricity group has acquired the newly built
nine-storey One Waterloo Street, which overlooks Glasgow Central
Station, from Australian developer Halladale Group.
The circa 60,000sqft building, which was recently completed,
stands on the site that used to belong to Shaftesbury House.
It will have space for about 600 employees, but The Herald
understands that this will be filled by existing employees moving
from other sites rather than new recruits.
The offices will house SSE's renewable energy activities, which
includes a multi-billion-pound investment in onshore and offshore
wind farms plus interests in hydroelectricity and wave and tidal
energy.
