The renewal of the waterfront is expected to create over 20,000
new homes. Almost 9,000 new homes have already been created between
2003 and 2011. It is critical that they are integrated with
existing communities to ensure urban cohesion. A proportion of
these homes will be affordable homes for rent or shared equity
purchase.
better neighbourhoods
Working with our all partners, we have identified a programme of
community regeneration action totalling more than £100 million
over 20 - 25 years. This activity will ensure that
neighbourhoods are engaged in the entire redevelopment process.
Our plans also need to take account of the historic buildings
and public space along the river, using them imaginatively to
benefit local residents and making the Clyde a safer, cleaner and
more welcoming place to live.
