Description

Staybridge, part of the world's largest hotel group, has plans to build a multi- million pound, 20 storey hotel in Jamaica Street at Central Station. Revised plans are for the slick modern building, finished in aluminium cladding and red glass planels  in shades that reflect the local sandstone buildings.  The new city centre hotel will replace a 1960s office block, which has been lying empty for years and will create a local landmark, visible from many points to the south of the Clyde. Some of the red panels will be internally illuminated and together with illumination of the planned roof feature will add interest to the night time architecture.

Each suite in the four-star hotel will feature a fully equipped kitchen, sofas, wi-fi, broadband and plasma-screen TVs, with most visitors staying more than a week.

This major new hotel development will provide 120 suites, contributing to the growning need for hotel rooms in the city.
