Involving education - the approach

"Scotland’s future depends on young people with positive attitudes and good core skills." (Determined to succeed, Scottish Executive, 2007)

Education and the economy must support each other. A thriving economy is guided by the talent developed in our schools. And educationalists now agree that success is achieved through encouraging the development of work and life skills as well as attainment in examinations.

Clyde Waterfront is a fantastic opportunity to develop a first-class educational resource that will help young people to see the relevance of their learning.

As the first of its kind it will provide an invaluable template for other regeneration projects.

Enterprise in Education (EiE)

EiE is a cross-curricular initiative to help teachers link their professional knowledge with the world around the school, ensuring young people see the relevance of their learning. The EiE approach

  • puts learning in a real context
  • encourages young people to take responsibility for their part of the learning process
  • promotes independent thinking and a 'can-do' attitude
  • helps young people achieve success in their personal, social and work lives.

Resources
