Glasgow Works is delivering a strategy for tackling worklessness
known as Workforce Plus. The programme is designed to help
people into sustained employment in meaningful jobs where there is
the chance of progression.
In Glasgow, Workforce Plus is being delivered by Glasgow Works
as part of the "City Strategy". Glasgow has been chosen as
one of fifteen pathfinders in the UK to participate in the
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Cities Pathfinder
Initiative.
Through the partners working collaboratively, current
employability, decision-making and funding structures in
Glasgow have been simplified to enable new service
delivery arrangements. These new arrangements, on behalf of
employers and individuals, will seek to eliminate barriers to
employment by addressing recruitment, retention, skills and
diversity. In particular more resource will be put into client
engagement and aftercare.
