  • C8 - Clyde Waterfront Green Network Strategy

A network of green spaces along the river

As redevelopment gathers pace along the river, green space will be vital in making the river an attractive place for people to visit. Many local initiatives are under way to promote walkways and cycle paths, parks, green spaces and natural habitats for wildlife to flourish. Communities are aware of their local needs and working towards local improvements. Often community arts activity is associated with green spaces, for example the Gorbals Rose Garden, part of The Artworks Programme.

But there is a wider plan for these local projects.

A Green Network Strategy pulls all these developments together to ensure that there are accessible green spaces along the length of the Clyde Waterfront area. A guiding principle has been to make the waterfront accessible to the public and this must link to local projects for green spaces and paths so there is a genuine network.

Clyde Waterfront is a strategic partnership of the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Council, Renfrewshire Council and West Dunbartonshire Council.
