Wild flowers at Clyde View Park

Flora & fauna

Changes in the way that the River Clyde is used are gradually leading to a local environment that will encourage wildlife back into the area.

The river itself is an important biodiversity corridor and as it becomes less polluted it will be a more attractive habitat to birds and other wildlife. Plans are developing to naturalise areas of the river bank with a softer river edge, stepping stones and the creation of  a mosaic of wetland and shoreline habitats.

The green network of parks, footpaths and cyleways connecting along the shore on either side of the river will also have an important impact on flora and fauna both in the heart of Glasgow and in the greener spaces towards the western edge of the area.
