Description

The latest art work to be added to the long running Gorbals Art Project, The Gorbals Boys, is now located on the junction of Cumberland Street and Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

Gorbals Arts Project (GAP) is a locally based project committed to working in partnership with local communities to produce artwork in the development of arts-led regeneration.  GAP  is very much involved in working in collaboration with local community groups in community led projects. These public commissions differ from other public commissions as the community makes the decision.

GAP have collaborated with a number of local groups and statutory agencies in these projects including New Gorbals Housing Association, Local Primary Schools, Safer Gorbals, Govanhill Housing Association, South Lanarkshire Council and Greater Glasgow Health Board.

Other recent GAP projects include the Gorbals Rose War Memorial (2004), Townhead Tree (2007) and Teardrop (2008).

Current status

The art projects shown on this page have all been completed. The Gorbals Art Project continues to work with the local community to produce new pieces of public art.
