Description

A stylish new £10m restaurant quarter is to be created on the waterfront within Glasgow city centre.

Glasgow City Council has chosen Wilson Bowden to develop 30,000 ft2 of pavilions which will house a series of bars, restaurants and cafes on the banks of the River Clyde at the Broomielaw, adjacent to the city’s International Financial Services District.

The Broomielaw Pavilions, built over two storeys and featuring a striking “wave form” roof, will be situated on the north bank of the river, next to a new pedestrian bridge linking Broomielaw with Tradeston on the south side.

Along with the new bridge, the development is expected to play a key role in the ongoing regeneration of the Clyde within the core city centre and draw people to the waterfront.

The new project will bolster the growing vibrancy of Atlantic Quay. The area earmarked for the pavilions, adjacent to Robertson Street, is currently open space owned by the city council.  There is scope to extend the project to the east into Clyde Place and to the west to Anderston Quay.
