Description

The Clyde Waterfront Green Network Strategy has been prepared by a partnership brought together by the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan Team as one of two launch projects for the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Green Network Partnership.

The purpose of the study has been to explore and assess the nature, scope and scale of Green Network opportunities that exist across the Waterfront project area and to develop a strategy for maximising the contribution of this area to the Green Network, whilst at the same time creating linkages with the wider Structure Plan area.

The study has included a review of the public policy context, an audit of existing greenspace resources, and the identification of issues and opportunities relevant to Green Network development. A series of stakeholder workshops have been held to discuss six key themes that were identified:

  • planning and land use
  • community and health
  • arts, culture and heritage
  • environmental links
  • transport and access
  • economic regeneration.

In addition to considering the Waterfront area as a whole, the consultants have reviewed opportunities relevant to each of 11 constituent “action areas”.

The report has been posted in sections for download. Part 1 gives an overview of the strategy and context. Part 2 examines each of the six themes listed above. There are then the eleven "action area" sections providing more detail on activity in each area.

The Clyde Valley Green Network Partnership is now working with all partners to take the recommendations of the report forward.
