Aitken Memorial Fountain

Linking heritage and regeneration

The B listed Aitken Memorial Fountain is an important Govan landmark which has fallen into disrepair in recent years.  It has now been taken away to be fully restored to its former glory.

The fountain's missing Cherub, known to most Govanites as the "Govan Baby", disappeared over 20 years ago. The Govan Baby will be returned as part of the restoration works.

The drawings shown here were created by pupils at Hills Trust primary school as part of a workshop about the fountain.

The restoration is part of the regeneration of Govan Cross, which is currently under way.
